WEST Adelaide’s decision to restructure its board has cost Lee Harradine his role as president.
Murray Forbes, who recently retired as dealer principal at City Mazda, has replaced Harradine following the appointment of five new board members by the nomination committee.
Graeme Barton, Jacqui Rose, Nick Karasoulos and Mark Goddard are the other new members who gained approval following the interview process and they have been nominated for varying terms.
The final two members of the board will be determined by a members’ vote at the annual meeting on February 25.
Bloods chief executive Ben Hopkins said the club was extremely happy with the new appointments.
“The committee has found five quality board members to help improve the club on and off the field,” he said.
A special meeting of members in December voted to alter the club’s constitution and overhaul the board.
The current board members will stand down at the annual meeting, while the nomination committee comprising Bloods’ identities John Kantilaftas, David Shipway and Adrian O’Dea had the responsibility of appointing five members.
Harradine, a long-time servant of the Bloods, said he wished the club and new board well.
“I have been heartened by the overwhelming support I have received by so many people at the club and in the wider football community,” he said.
“I am proud the club is in a much better position on and off the field than before my time as president.”
One of the members voted to the board at the annual meeting will serve a two-year term, while the other successful applicant will be appointed for one year.
That will enable the members to have a say on the composition of the board each year.
Former Bloods champion and development officer Jason Porplyzia has been lost to Adelaide. Porplyzia is to work with the Crows’ Next Generation academy.
