ONBALLER Louis Sharrad got limited opportunities at Port Adelaide last season because of the Power’s skinny injury list and the abundance of AFL-listed players available for state league selection.
He did have his moments to shine, however, including the round-two battle against Norwood at The Parade when he dragged Port over the line with a typical hard-at-it approach on the ball.
Opting to leave Alberton in search of increased league game time, Sharrad was contacted by almost every SANFL club seeking his services, such is his ability to impact on games.
Woodville-West Torrens won his signature.
SANFL’S TOP 50 PLAYERS: PART ONE 50-41
Despite his restricted league action last season, Sharrad has been named at No. 34 in the state league’s top 50 as determined by Channel 7 and Mix 102.3 personality Mark Soderstrom and myself.
Today we reveal the players ranked from 40 to 31. There will be another 10 players announced each day until the top 10 is released on Friday.
In today’s group is Jason Porplyzia. He did not get on the ground last season after rupturing his ACL in a trial game, but the midfielder is a class act as proven over the years. The veteran will return to the Bloods line-up this season and they need him.
AFL players have not been included in the list and players must have appeared in a SANFL game before this season to be selected.
Former classy Central District midfielder Josh Glenn has not been considered, having only signed with Norwood last week after the top 50 was determined.
