Sturt and Central District will be having a ball with the multicultural theme when they clash at Unley Oval on Sunday.
The SANFL’s first multicultural ball will be adopted for the contest, having been given the green light after being used in the inaugural Nations Cup Festival last month.
The festival belongs to the SANFL’s initiative to grow the game among all cultures.
The yellow Burley ball, which features black Persian calligraphy in the shape of bird spreading its wings, represents the migration story of Arman Abrahimzadeh, the 2016 Young Australian of the Year for South Australia and now Adelaide City Councillor.
It was designed by a Melbourne-based Iranian artist Mohsen Meysami.
The Double Blues have joined the push to involve more cultures in the sport with its promotion of the Multicultural match and Unley Oval will have food stalls and multicultural performers to complement the football action.
The two teams will enter the game with contrasting form.
The Double Blues have got their season back on track with three successive wins, while the Bulldogs are slipping out of finals contention after losing their past three games.
Casey Voss, son of former Brisbane champion and current Port Adelaide assistant coach Michael, is a chance to make his league debut for the Double Blues after being named in an extended squad.
