South Adelaide is honouring its champions with a huge mural on the entrance to its Noarlunga Oval ground.

Jim Deane, Mark Naley and Peter Darley are among the players being recognised by the club for their illustrious careers, while Joel Cross, Nick Liddle and Nikki Gore are among the current stars.

The initiative follows a board room discussion on making the club more appealing to people when they walk into the facility, according to Panthers chief executive Neill Sharpe.

“We want to acknowledge some of the champions of the club, there was conversations on player’ records and the history of the Panthers and all the names chose for the mural held up,” Sharpe said.

“Joel and Nick are as good as we have had at the club since it has been based at Noarlunga, David Kantilla is the club’s first Indigenous player and Nikki Gore our the first female best and fairest winner and was a member of the club’s first women’s premiership in its first season.”

Graffiti artist Morris Green has been employed to paint the mural. He said the toughest aspect of the job was working from old photos.
