Peter Rolfe to play his 100th SANFL league game for South Adelaide
THE persistence of South Adelaide’s Peter Rolfe will be rewarded tomorrow when he finally achieves the 100-game milestone in the Panthers jumper.
THE persistence of South Adelaide’s Peter Rolfe will be rewarded Monday when he finally achieves the 100-game milestone in the Panthers jumper.
It has been a patient ride for Rolfe to Monday’s clash against high-flying Woodville-West Torrens in Noarlunga, having been struck by injury worries since joining the club from Alice Springs in 2007.
“It has taken a while to get there but I’ve had a few injuries and been in and out of the side,’’ Rolfe said. “There have been a few niggles here and there and that has been annoying.
“But I’ve got no regrets and the club has been awesome. It would have been nice to have a few more wins here and there but that is footy.’’
Among his injury woes was a serious knee injury in 2013 which required a reconstruction and restricted him to just three games for the season.
Rolfe had the start to this season hampered by issues with his hip and groin, forcing him to miss a month of pre-season and prompting a return through the reserves for two weeks.
If Sturt conquers Adelaide in Unley today, the Panthers will drop out of the top five if beaten by the Eagles.
“This is a big game for us,’’ Rolfe said. “We have not played good footy this season so if ever there was a week to do, this is it.
“We get Adam Gulden back for his first league game for the season and he will gives us a lot of run, plus he uses the ball well.’’
The Double Blues have won four games this season and lost four. The four victories have been at home which is a worrying statistic for the Crows.
There are some prominent players returning from injuries for the Crows, including Richard Douglas and Brad Crouch.
