SOUTH Adelaide rookie Lewis Makepeace has been ruled out for the rest of the season after rupturing his ACL in the loss to Woodville-West Torrens at Noarlunga on Sunday.

Scans revealed the damage although he must wait six weeks for the knee to be strengthened before having surgery. He is the second Panther lost to a knee reconstruction in the past two weeks following the injury to Tarak Redigolo.

“It is really disappointing,’’ Panthers football manager Neil Sharpe said.

“Lewis has matured a lot as a person and player in the past 18 months and his footy has come along in leaps and bounds.’’

Panthers forward Jackson McMahon will have surgery on Tuesday to repair a dislocated knee and he will be sidelined for 12 weeks.

The horror injury toll at Noarlunga has also claimed Roland Ah Chee, who will miss at least two weeks of action because of a hamstring problem.

Peter Rolfe will make his first appearance in the league side since knee reconstruction last year.
