Roosters midfielder Daniel Kulikowski ruled out for SANFL season

STRUGGLING North Adelaide’s woes have increased after the club revealed Daniel Kulikowski needs more repairs on his injured wrist and will miss the rest of the season.
The on-baller has been hampered by the problem since a trial match against Central District and had surgery three weeks ago. But the damaged ligaments are still an issue and he will have another operation in two weeks.
The Roosters, bottom of the ladder with one win from eight games, have been hit hard by injury while Will Dalwood has left the club to play with Prince Alfred Old Collegians.
“Daniel is an electrician by trade and he could not close his hand,’’ Roosters football manager Darryl Wintle said. “He hurt the wrist in the trials and it has got worse over time.
“Will has been a bit up and down with his form and he had a chat with (coach) Ken (McGregor). After weighing up his options, he has decided to play with Prince Alfred. There was no animosity and he was at our game on Monday.’’
The Roosters have been without gun forward Lewis Johnston (ankle) since round three and have not had Luke Mitchell (back/groin) and Cohen Thiele (knee reconstruction) this season. Alex Barnes (cheekbone) is sidelined until at least round 14 while George and Max Thring have been troubled by injury.
Midfielder Rhys O’Keefe is the latest to join the injury list, having hurt his hamstring late in the game against the Tigers. And to further test the club’s depth, Alan Obst has been suspended for a game.
West Adelaide will strengthen its backline for today’s clash against Port Adelaide in Richmond with the return of Tom Keough (ankle).
“Tom has been really good for us,’’ captain Chris Schmidt said.
“He was good last year as well but probably did not get the public attention he deserved. Port is obviously a good side and have a lot of quality players coming through the mix. We are doing a lot of things right but there is still a lot to improve on.’’
South Adelaide will be aiming to snap a three-game losing streak when it hosts Glenelg at Hickinbotham Oval tomorrow while Sturt takes on Norwood in Unley.
