PORT Adelaide is mourning the death of Dean Trowse, one of the football club’s heroes from the “Golden Era” of the Magpies in the SANFL in the 1950s.
Trowse played 105 SANFL and kicked 64 goals from 1951-1957 in the decade that delivered seven premierships in the 1950s.
Trowse died on Tuesday. He had battled ill health this year requiring chemotherapy. He was honoured by the club in March when Port Adelaide inducted to its Hall of Fame all the players who were part of the Magpies dominance of the SANFL with six consecutive premierships from 1954-1959.
Port Adelaide players are expected to wear black armbands this weekend when the Power plays West Coast at Adelaide Oval on Saturday.
