Patrick Levicki has quit Norwood to sign with West Adelaide in SANFL
WEST Adelaide has been actively recruiting and among their signings is a key defender from Norwood seeking increased opportunities.
FORMER Norwood defender Patrick Levicki is to front for West Adelaide next season after switching allegiance in search of increased opportunities.
The Bloods announced the signing on Thursday and they are confident the 26-year old will strengthen their defence, describing him as a strong intercept marker and one-on-one defender with elite running capacity.
Levicki has made 51 league appearances for the Redlegs, but fell out of favour this season when he played just three games in the top side.
“2015 and 2016 were standout seasons for Levicki and he has impressed the coaching department, being one of Norwood’s best players against us on numerous occasions,” the Bloods said on their website.
The Bloods have also lured Jade Cleeland, who shares his time between attack and ruck, from VFL club Werribee.
“We have been working hard on getting Jade to West Adelaide for a while after meeting with him at the end of 2017,” Bloods coach Gavin Colville said. “He is not only a great player, but he has many of the personal characteristics we look for in our players.”
The Redlegs have secured former South Adelaide midfielder Cody Szust, who played 15 games for the Panthers this season.
“It’s pretty exciting signing for Norwood,” Szust told the Redlegs’ website. “It’s the club I obviously grew up following with most of my family being Norwood supporters.
“I’m pretty excited to start training and obviously be part of this club where we can have plenty of success over the years to come.”
West Perth gun Luke Meadows has been linked to North Adelaide. It is believed the big-bodied midfielder has met with the Roosters, while he is also being chased by VFL clubs.
