North Adelaide can erase penalty with win over Port Adelaide at Alberton Oval

North Adelaide started the season two games down as penalty for fielding 19 players during last year’s preliminary final, but the Roosters can erase that at Alberton on Sunday.

North Adelaide will be aiming to erase the two-game deficit when it takes on Port Adelaide at Alberton Oval on Sunday.

Penalised two games after the 19th man drama in the preliminary final last year, the Roosters got one back last weekend with the win over West Adelaide at Prospect Oval.

“We played some good footy in the second half last week and built up some momentum out of the game,” Roosters football manager Darryl Wintle said.

“In the first couple of games, Port has been a high possession team which looks after the ball. It is a high possession, high marking side so we are going to need to defend that. They have quality all over the park and we will need to play our game, take them on with our run and carry.”

Roosters coach Josh Carr will make one change to the side which conquered the Bloods with Tom Schwarz to return from suspension.

Port is coming off a loss to South Adelaide, having impressed in the victory over the Bloods in the opening round.

Just who lines up in the black and white jumper is a mystery, although coach Matthew Lokan is expected to regain AFL-listed players who were not needed by the Power on Saturday.
