GLENELG has landed arguably the biggest fish of the SANFL preseason, luring former Sydney and Collingwood big man Jesse White to the Bay.

The 29-year-old is understood to have chosen Glenelg ahead of offers from rival SANFL clubs because of his relationship with new Tigers coach Mark Stone, who he worked alongside when Stone was an assistant coach at the Swans.

“Jesse is excited to be part of a new challenge and is looking forward to seeing what he can bring to the team,” a Glenelg spokesman said.

His signing gives the Tigers a potent attack after they last month secured former Carlton rookie Luke Reynolds from the Port Adelaide.

The big-bodied 196cm forward-ruckman kicked 148 goals in 127 AFL games in a 10-year career after being selected by the Swans with pick 79 in the 2006 NAB AFL Draft.

The talented junior basketballer, who was offered a scholarship with the Australian Institute of Sport in 2005, trained with NBL club Melbourne United after retiring from Collingwood at the end of the AFL season but was overlooked for a contract.

He is relocating to Adelaide with his wife Jody and daughter Evie.

Elsewhere, South Adelaide has announced it has recruited in-and-under midfielder Anthony Biemans after four seasons as a contracted player for Port Adelaide Magpies. He follows 2014 Knuckey Cup winner Keegan Brooksby will make a return to Noarlunga after three seasons with the Gold Coast Suns.
