GLENELG star Ty Allen will play his final SANFL game against the Port Magpies at the Bay on Saturday.
The hard-as-nails midfielder told his teammates of his decision at training last night, saying he could not get any more out of his body.
Allen, 30, will be remembered as one of the Tigers’ and SANFL’s toughest players.
He has played 159 games and kicked 53 goals since debuting in 2003 after being recruited from south east club Millicent.
This year’s Glenelg co-captain with Andrew Bradley, Allen won three club champion awards — in 2008, 2010 and 2012 — and earned great respect for the way he played his football.
Not blessed with natural athletic ability, Allen has been a warrior and a contested ball and clearance specialist.
He gave every game he played 100 per cent.
But injury has caught up with him.
Allen has this year played just 10 games — five in the league and five in the reserves.
