GLENELG has failed in its bid to have Josh Woodall’s four-week suspension overturned.
The Tigers appealed the SANFL tribunal’s decision on Thursday night and after a short deliberation, the penalty was upheld.
Woodall was charged with rough conduct by SANFL General Manager State League Adam Kelly after the Tigers player collided with Woodville-West Torrens rover James Boyd in Woodville on Sunday.
Boyd had his collarbone broken in the incident and had surgery on Monday.
It was claimed Woodall made unreasonable contact in the circumstances, and it was deemed Boyd could not have been reasonably expecting this contact as the incident occurs while the game is, a) not in play, with the umpire awaiting return of the ball to restart play and b) the incident occurs approximately 10m away from the ball.
