They came dressed as Barbie, Buzz Lightyear, Woody, Dodgeball characters and other assortments as Glenelg’s SANFL premiership party spilt into Monday.

Nursing sore heads and having had little sleep, the Tigers’ 2023 premiership team gathered again at the start of the working week, just hours after they had joined thousands of jubilant fans at the Bay Oval for their premiership after-party.

“It was an amazing turnout at the club,’’ said Glenelg premiership captain Max Proud, who joined vice-captain Liam McBean in dressing up as Cotton and Pepper from Dodgeball.

“I reckon I had about 300 photos with fans on Sunday night (following their grand final win against Sturt), which is what it is all about, so it was a terrific night.

“And now, being able to spend more time with the boys, it’s really special.’’

On Tuesday, the celebrations of the club’s sixth flag will continue with the traditional West End Chimney Ceremony, where Glenelg’s black and gold colours will be unveiled on top of the historic Hoffmann Kiln at the Brickworks.

It was the biggest clash between fierce SANFL rivals Glenelg and Sturt for 49 years.

The two powerhouse state league clubs had not met in a grand final since 1974, when the Double Blues triumphed by 15 points in the first premiership decider at Football Park.

On Sunday, they met in a grand final for the fourth time, with Sturt holding a 3-0 advantage on the way in.

To celebrate the big occasion, The Advertiser has released 2023 team posters for each side.
