THE SANFL has sent a memo to the 10 state league clubs to reinforce its message on the behaviour of runners.
In the wake of Glenelg runner Matthew Lokan being fined for abusing a South Adelaide player on Sunday, the league has again made the clubs aware of runners’ conduct.

Lokan was fined $250 and had another $250 fine suspended after being found guilty of abusive language towards Panthers wingman Fraser Dale at Glenelg Oval.
State league boss Chris Davies has informed the clubs of the SANFL’s intention to monitor the actions of runners.
Fines of up to $500 can be issued for a runner found guilty of a first offence.
The clubs have told to remind their runners of four important regulations.
1: They must not enter the playing arena for any purpose other than, and only for such time as is reasonably necessary, to attend to an injured player, or to carry a message from the coach to a player of that team.
2: Runners must not approach or attempt to approach an umpire during the course of a match or during a scheduled break in play unless on a matter relating to an injured player.
3: Not approach or attempt to approach any player or official of an opposition team and during the course of a play or during a break.
4: Not remain on the playing arena longer than is necessary for the purpose of carrying out his duties as an official runner. The umpire has the power to order a runner from the arena and can report the runner if they continue to offend.
CENTRAL District will be without forward Johann Wagner for three weeks after he hurt his knee in the six-point win over Adelaide at Elizabeth on Saturday.
Wagner had to be helped from the ground early in the third quarter and it was feared there was serious damage to the knee. However, the diagnosis is bone bruising and a minor strain.
It was only the second league game with the Bulldogs for pacy Wagner, who was recruited from Port Lincoln this season and has been involved in the Foxtel show The Recruit.
The Bulldogs also lost Matthew White to suspension for tomorrow’s battle against the Panthers at Noarlunga, opening up a spot for the return to the top side of Dylan Hewett. Dallas Hill and David Haydon have also been included in a 22-man squad.
The Bulldogs will challenge the Panthers with growing confidence after the fighting 13-point loss to Port Adelaide - they trailed by 37 at quarter-time at Alberton - followed by the committed effort against a Crows outfit on the rise.
The Panthers have added Caleb and Nathan Daniel to the 21 who conquered the Tigers.
The wins for the Bulldogs and Panthers last weekend snapped three-game losing streaks for both clubs.
