Former Norwood Football Club president and former SA Football Commission member Nerio Ferraro died on Friday morning.

Ferraro led the Redlegs through the 1990s, from the first messy saga to issue an AFL licence in Adelaide that created the Crows in 1991 to the second-licence debate that ushered Port Adelaide to the national leaguein 1997.

He also served the SA Football Commission as an independent commissioner from 1995-2006.

Ferraro will be remembered for serving Norwood and SA football with integrity and honour.

Ferraro moved into SANFL club administration as a member of the Norwood Football Club board in 1981, immediately taking the appointment of deputy chairman. He was club president from 1982-1995, celebrating two SANFL premierships in that long tenure as the Redlegs off-field leader.

His partnership with Norwood chief executive Wally Miller was one of the strongest in SA football.
