Ex-Carlton contingent in Crows side boosted by presence of Eddie Betts to face Glenelg

Adelaide’s side will have a very Carlton flavour when it fronts Glenelg at the Bay on Saturday after the Crows lost patience with big-name forward Eddie Betts. See all the teams for Round 15.

Carlton will have a significant influence on Adelaide’s need for a response to lacklustre form on Saturday stretching from the MCG to Glenelg Oval following the Crows’ decision to drop Eddie Betts to the state league.

At the same time the Crows are tackling the Blues in Melbourne, their state league outfit will challenge ladder-leading Glenelg with Betts, Sam Jacobs and Bryce Gibbs in the line-up — all high-profile recruits from Carlton.

And adding to the Blues theme, Betts will no doubt cross paths with Tigers’ defender Aaron Joseph, who played 73 games for Carlton.

The Crows, who have lost three of their past four AFL contests and the past two in the state league, also demoted Hugh Greenwood and he will front for his second game against the Tigers at the Bay this season.

Onballer Patrick Wilson and defender Andy Otten have been outstanding in the SANFL and their form has earned them another opportunity at the national level.

The Tigers are set to regain strong-marking forward Josh Scott after he was named in a 23 -man squad.

Scott has missed the past three games after hurting his arm against Central District. He had surgery after breaking the arm in round 3.

Cory Gregson will also return after illness forced him to pull out of the win over Port Adelaide at Alberton Oval on Sunday on the morning of the game.

West Adelaide has regained classy defender Josh Ryan for the battle against Central District at Richmond Oval on Saturday.

Kyle Kirk, Conor Noonan and Connor Fairlie are also listed as inclusions in a 23-man squad. Jack Evans has had his season ended by a knee injury and Lyndon Hupfeld is out of the side due to a hamstring injury.
