Dom Barry to make debut for Norwood in SANFL clash against Norwood

A new SANFL season has arrived and Norwood will unleash a potent speed weapon when it hosts Glenelg at The Parade tonight.

Norwood will unleash pace against Glenelg in the opening-round clash at The Parade on Friday night with Dom Barry joining Anthony Wilson in the line-up.

Barry has been named at half forward for the Redlegs, but he will do most of work on the wing where he will feed off the likes of Mitch Grigg and Matthew Panos.

The speedster opted not to return to the Tigers after being delisted by Port Adelaide last year.

Michael Talia has been named in the Redlegs’ reserves after missing much of the pre-season due to a back issue.

Tigers coach Mark Stone has included gun recruit Cory Gregson in a 23-man squad and a decision on his status will be made on Friday morning.

Gregson has been troubled by foot injuries in the past two years when with Geelong, but negotiated 40 minutes of the trial against West Adelaide to raise optimism of being available for round one.

“He got through the trial okay and has done a fair bit of work since,” Tigers football manager Paul Sandercock said.

Also in the extended squad is Michael Virgin, who played with PHOS Camden last season after being at North Adelaide.

West Adelaide onballer Will Snelling is back with the Bloods after being delisted by the Power and he will be keen for tonight’s battle against Port at Richmond Oval.

Snelling earned the best and fairest award for Port’s state league side last season and his presence is a massive boost for the Bloods midfield.
