Rostrevor Old Collegians takes on Goodwood in tomorrow’s division one amateur football grand final

JAMES Jordan insists he was not out to trump his brother Charlie when he kicked the goal to send Rostrevor Old Collegians into the division one grand final.

Charlie booted the last major as Rostrevor’s B grade recorded a four-point win over Goodwood in the second semi-final on September 6.

A few hours later James did the same to help the A’s beat the Saints by an identical margin.

“I had no idea he kicked the winning goal,” James, 22, said.

“I was talking to people after and they said he pulled one of out of his backside and they got up.

“It was a bit of a lucky day for him and I.”

Charlie, 20, added: “I never usually kick that many goals ... so we just had a bit of a laugh about it”.

James, a half-forward/tagger, and Charlie, a midfielder, are now preparing for grand finals both against Goodwood tomorrow.

It will be James’s second premiership decider for the club after playing in its division one flag last year.

Charlie is making his grand final debut – 12 months after breaking his leg late last season.

“Beating Goodwood was a good feeling but everyone quickly switched on to the fact there’s another week to go,” James says.

The Jordans, of Beaumont, joined the club after graduating from Rostrevor College.

“It’d be awesome to both win a flag,” Charlie says.
