Motley joins his father and Magpies legend Geof as members of the Hall of Fame and his elevation among South Australia’s great of the game comes 22 years after the car accident in Melbourne which almost cost him his life and ended his career.
A three-times All Australian, Motley made a stunning impression in five seasons plus six games of senior football.
“I can’t imagine I’m good enough to be in the Hall of Fame,” Motley said. “I could not believe it when I got the letter so rang (SANFL chief executive) Jake Parkinson to ask what was going on. I still can’t believe it.”
Anderson played 150 games, including two grand final triumphs, for the Magpies, as well as 103 games for Essendon and 59 for Adelaide.
Incredibly, he made his league debut for the Magpies at just 16 years, a year after being kicked out of the cheer squad for not having a membership badge.
