RIVERLAND
Waikerie v Loxton North
Waikerie, Saturday @ 2.40pm
All eyes will be on Waikerie superboot Daniel Nobes when Waikerie hosts Loxton North in the White Ribbon Game on Saturday.
Nobes kicked 13 goals last week to take his season tally to an incredible 47 after just four rounds and is on track to beat his league-record haul of 130 in 2017.
The three-peat Magpies have started the 2019 season where they left, winning all four games.
They come up against a Panthers side that has clawed two wins, including a one-point win in a thriller against Berri in Round 3.
Players from all grades will wear white arm bands as a sign of support for the White Ribbon Day cause with senior players to take an oath before the start of the A grade match.
BAROSSA, LIGHT AND GAWLER
Willaston v Kapunda
Willaston, Saturday @ 2.20pm
The Barossa, Light and Gawler league season is shaping up to be a fascinating one, with the side currently second last on the ladder set to play a major role.
Willaston is just into the black after being stripped of four points as part of harsh penalties it copped last year for breaching the salary cap.
Remarkably, a win against Kapunda could put the Donnybrooks within a game of the top five and back within striking distance.
Kapunda has just the one win way back in Round 1 and will be desperate to turn around its season.
Willaston is using the occasion to celebrate the 20th anniversary of its 1999 — and most recent — premiership.
The 1999 side, which was coached by former Central District best and fairest winner and SA representative Mark Norsworthy, beat Angaston by eight points.
KANGAROO ISLAND
Kingscote v Dudley United
Kingscote, Saturday @ 2.15pm
The Kangaroo Island league will mark Reconciliation Week with two games that will shape both ends of the ladder.
Both Kingscote and Dudley United will be desperate for a win at Kingscote Oval after slow starts to the season.
Reigning premier Kingscote has just the one win, a two-point victory in the grand final rematch against Western Distrcits in Round 2.
Dudley United is anchored to the bottom of the ladder without a win.
There will be a acknowledgment and smoking ceremony, local art prepared by school students, Aboriginal flags flying and painted on the oval, damper and a “sea of hands” entry to the Kingscote Oval.
A smaller Reconciliation Week effort is planned for the other Reconciliation Week game out at Western Districts where the home side will come up against Wisanger from 2.15pm,
Umpires will wear special shirts designed by Parndana indigenous player Bailey Gaskin which will represent his own dreaming story.
ADELAIDE FOOTY LEAGUE
DIVISION ONE
St Peter’s OC v Brighton Bombers
Caterer Oval @ 2.15pm
A rematch of last year’s division two grand final is on the cards at St Peter’s College as Brighton travel to try and exact revenge on SPOC.
The college boys took their honours in the decider last year on their way to an undefeated season.
Both SPOC and the Bombers have taken to the top tier better than most promoted sides. St Peter’s is third on the ladder at 4-2 while Brighton has snared two wins and is gathering momentum.
DIVISION TWO
Salisbury North v Unley Mercedes
Salisbury North Oval @ 2.15pm
One of last season’s biggest headlines was Salisbury North’s removal from the league and the last club they faced in that season was Unley Mercedes.
The two teams meet for the first time since that match and it looms as a hotly-contested fixture.
The Jets are undefeated and flying on top of the ladder while the Hawks are third and notoriously tough to beat at home.
GREAT FLINDERS
Ramblers v Tumby Bay
Cummins, Saturday @ 2.30pm
The second-placed Ramblers take on third-placed Tumby Bay in match of the round.
The Blues, with three wins, are expecting some of their key players back and have hit some form while the Magpies, with four victories, are ticking along nicely and piled on a huge score in the wet against Eyre United last week.
GREAT SOUTHERN
McLaren v Victor Harbor
McLaren Vale, Saturday @ 2.30pm
One that might define the season: the talk is whether Victor deserves to be on top of the ladder? The Roos have been travelling well, dropping just the one game to Mt Compass, but this might be their biggest test of the season.
The Eagles are sitting fourth on four wins and coming off a 108-point thumping of cellar-dweller Myponga-Sellicks last week.
