Wakefield Sports Clinic Div 7 Rd 14 preview
THE division seven title has effectively come down to three clubs.
THE division seven title has effectively come down to three clubs which have come together at the top of the ladder.
Adelaide Lutheran, Mitchell Park and Para Hills appear to be the sides that will battle it out to
hold the trophy aloft at the end of the season.
Fourth-placed Tea Tree Gully might be just one win behind the top three but its loss to Adelaide
Lutheran last week showed it was a little off the class of those above it.
However, it could come good when required, given the experience and quality available when
all players are fit and firing.
All in all, it ensures that interest remains high in division seven right up until the ultimate season-decider.
That will certainly be the case in this week’s top-of-the-table clash between Adelaide Lutheran
and Mitchell Park.
The Bulldogs highlighted their premiership credentials through their resilient 28-point away
victory over the Gullies last week.
Lachlan Richter, Tom Kowald, Jake Anspach and Brendan Kupke from the Dogs will want to
further display their forthright title claims this week while retaining top spot at the end of round 14 as well.
The Lions will have their own sights on taking over the top rung of the ladder when travelling to
the Parklands on Saturday.
Mitchell Park’s Chris Bradford, Brendon Walczak, Adam Morris and Kym Evans received just the valuable tough contest they needed leading into this encounter from Adelaide University last
week, holding the Blacks at bay by 23 points at the finish.
Adelaide University put up a fight to keep its own finals chances alive but it proved futile as
it fell two wins behind fifth-placed St Pauls OS after it defeated the Blacks’ University counterpart, Flinders University, by 49 points.
It is a divide that will probably stay the same following this weekend’s round that sees the Saints visiting Mofflin Reserve to face Central United and the Blacks possibly hosting North Pines.
Unexpectedly North Pines was able to field its two sides last Saturday following a few weeks of
forfeiting but will now hopefully be able to conclude the season on the field rather than not.
The Redbacks will attempt to regroup again this week for a trip to University Oval.
Central United dismissed a vastly weakened North Pines last week by a substantial 163 points.
Bulldogs’ Chad Wegener, Nathan Addison, John Ritzema and Kirran Cornish will look to make things difficult for Matthew Rowson, David Kambach, Francesco Marafioti and Joe Adamo of St Pauls OS this week as well.
The Crabs host Para Hills, coming off a break, on Saturday while Tea Tree Gully will prepare for its potential rise to higher accolades after a bye this week.
