A TRUE clash of the titans looms in Round 9 of the Adelaide Footy League’s The Norwood Hotel Division 1, with powerhouse Goodwood Saints taking on flag favourite Rostrevor.
For more than a decade Goodwood has been the dominant force in Division 1.
Others have reached the peak but none have been able to sustain the ongoing success of the Saints.
Rostrevor has itself tasted division 1 premiership success and is currently the bookies’ favourite to repeat itsr efforts of 2013.
These two titans clash in this week’s game of the round. Each has a midfield with an abundance of stars.
Having seen both teams play this year, I believe the lightning quick hands of the ROCS on-ballers should set up its quality outside run to create enough scoring opportunities for the likes of Heath Commane, Nick Hombsch and Jacob Gilbee, which should be enough to set up a win.
Meanwhile, St Peters is still searching for their first win as it hosts Salisbury North.
Last weekend’s break might be just what the Hawks needed after two tight and tough close games.
Again most games are won and lost in the midfield and it’s the Hawks with “Smokin” Joe Hay, Michael Clinch and Alex Stengle who should have too much class for SPOC, which might only have a one year sojourn in the top division.
PAOC has started to look dangerous in the last month and they seem to have replaced the eight players who exited from last year’s premiership team.
Names like Brock Castree, Jake Pitt, Hayden Jolly and Adam Perryman make the Reds an imposing unit.
They face an Adelaide Uni team which at its best has been very good but still relies too heavily on the Paynter brothers to serve up matchwinning performances. Uni will need a spike in form from Casey “Choppers” Grice to set up a win. The Reds stars will get the job done.
Payneham hosts Modbury in a game that is likely to send one team off to hunt for a finals birth while the loser might be battling to avoid relegation.
PNU’s defensive pressure that needs to elevate if it wants to get back on the winners’ list.
No team has conceded more points this year.
The team has the personnel to succeed but at the moment they are not executing.
If they can’t stop Todd Stanton and Matthew Gibson, the misery will continue. PNU just.
TTG takes on Port District with Alex and Zack Mckay, Ryan Spittle and Dylan Shoemakers in fine form
It should be too good for Port who will hope stars Trent Heffernan and James Batty can prove me wrong.
