After eight rounds of the Norwood Hotel Division 1 competition, the top five teams have a two-game buffer on the rest of the comp heading into the break. Interestingly enough the top 5 all had wins.

Top team Rostrevor easily accounted for Adelaide Uni by 40 points. That dynamic midfield with the likes of Kieran Holland, Craig Holm and Tom Hurley are proving very hard to stop for any combination.

For the Blacks, Jonathan Schulz was BOG and Michael Taylor continues his consistent form with another fine display.

TTG sit second after a defiant three-point win in a seesawing contest at Salisbury North. Better players for the Gullies included Alex Mckay and former Norwood star Peter Persinos. For the gallant Hawks, Cody Victor and Ricky Thomas had their best games of the year while big man Jamie Solly kicked five.

Goodwood had a six-point win over SPOC on the back of ultra-consistent Thomas Barry and a sublime effort from Jordan Turner.

The Saints will also be buoyed by a return to the best players by Anthony Dempsey.

St Peters remain winless and, after holding Goodwood scoreless in the third stanza and going into lemon time with a 14 point lead, could be forgiven for thinking this was the week it would all turn around.

Despite a tireless effort from Lachlan Roach and Christian Calabrese unfortunately it wasn’t to be.

PAOC are starting to play some very good football as Modbury could attest to after a nine-goal thumping.

Running machine William Curyer was their best while a breakout game was had by Amyas Ross in his first senior appearance.

The competition pacesetters will be looking over their shoulder as the 2016 premiers get a head of steam moving into the second half of the season.

Modbury battled hard with the likes of Michael Bennett and consistent Jake Philips giving great service but are probably just a touch off the best teams in the competition.

Port District ventured to Payneham and got the chocolates which have been no easy feat over the last five years. This was on the back of a BOG performance by Trent Heffernan, who was well supported by Luke Mcinerney.

PNU it is fair to say have been extremely underwhelming so far this season as big things were expected and they have not delivered. Harry Pride was best on the weekend while high flying defender Dylan Auciello has been a real find.
