In a tight finish where goals were hard to come by the Hawks won 8.10 (58) to 8.9 (57) with Daniel Kaipara (three goals), Jack Sutton and Ehab Sayagha among the best. Lachlan Matthews, Dallon Sweet and Josh Zanker played well for the Rams, while Corey Hall was the standout in attack with five goals.

Hectorville led all day to beat Portland in their match at Daly Oval. The Hounds won 13.11 (89)

to 4.6 (30) after leading 5.4 to 2.4 at half time and 11.7 to 2.6 at the last change.

Best for Hectorville were Cooper Richards, Euan Fletcher and Connor Williams. Jak Wells kicked four goals. Nathan Wait, Michael Frederick and Xavier Reynolds-Verco were among the better players for the Thunder.

Salisbury West produced a powerhouse effort against Fitzroy away to win 22.14 (146) to 4.2

(26).

The Tigers led 10.9 to 1.1 at half time and 15.9 to 4.2 at the last change before clearing away in the last quarter. Billy Hill, Brandon Plannegger and Jacobus Hendriks all had big games, while Terrel Rigney was dominant in attack with 10 goals. Jack Bennett, Harry Bowman and Matthew Leuzzi battled well for the Lions.

Hope Valley opened its season in style with a 10.12 (72) to 8.6 (54) win against Gaza.

Rexy Smith, Jordan Thurgood and Alex Rantoulis were solid, while Kane Harvey kicked four goals.

Best for the Eagles were Jacob Anderson, Joshua Senior and Jayden Carrigg.
