LOCKLEYS, Blackfriars Old Scholars, Hope Valley and Glenunga remain unbeaten after two rounds of the Nine News Division 5 Adelaide Footy League, following commanding victories at the weekend.

Lockleys sit atop of the ladder after the Demons out muscled Pooraka in a high-scoring thriller at Lindblom Park. In a contest where 38 goals were scored, both sides demonstrated their prowess up forward and ability to score quickly in a free-flowing affair.

Demon Shaun Crowell was superb all day and was well supported by Kade Boase and Luke Detullia. Simon Ascoli booted six but that effort was overshadowed by Michael Bakers’ haul of seven in a losing side.

After trailing at quarter time, Blackfriars Old Scholars overcame a slow start against Greenacres to outclass the Dragons and run away victors by 72 points.

From quarter time onwards it was a procession as Blackfriars kicked an astonishing 24 of the next 34 goals and blew the Dragons away in the second half.

Sam Horsell, Luke Bortolotti and Matt Martin all continued their stellar starts to 2017, along Antonio Scaffidi-Muta who kicked a bag of 5.

Hope Valley continued Rosewater’s winless start to 2017 following its comfortable 42 point triumph.

Rosewaters slow starts has been its achilles heel thus far, however, the Dogs inaccuracy also severely hampered their chances at victory.

They kicked a wayward 2.7 in the second term, while Hope Valley took the most of its opportunities in front of goal.

Jayke Hellmanns produced another best-on-ground performance to lead his side to victory.

Glenunga, likewise kept its unblemished record after recording a come from behind 36-point victory against Woodville South.

Kicking into to a strong southerly breeze in the first term, Glenunga struggled with accuracy in front of goal. In stark contrast, the Cats could not miss and took a slender six-point lead into the break.

After an old fashion spray at quarter time by coach Brian Leys, the Rams showed glimpses of their early season form and wrestled back the ascendancy at half time.

A flat and tired Woodville South was no match for a rampant Glenunga outfit which blasted the Cats off the park in the second half thanks to Xavier Larcombe, Sturt reserves player Alex Haren and Jayce Dell Bello. Former Glenunga player Jake Edwards starred for the Cats.

In Round 2’s remaining fixture, CBC bounced back from its thumping loss against Lockleys to upset Kenilworth by 45 points.
