DIVISION five of the Adelaide Footy League produced two mouth-watering contests that changed the make-up of the top four at the weekend as the losers suffered severe ramifications.

Top side Glenunga clashed with the in-form CBC Old Collegians at Webb Oval in an extremely important contest for both sides.

Glenunga’s recruiting prowess continued to be a talking point of the competition after they secured James and Nick Wundke from the River Murray Football League and the lively Jordy Schmidt from the Onkaparinga Football Club.

After last week’s forgettable loss to Woodville South, Brian Leys’ men made a fast start, racing to an early eight point advantage at quarter time, to which extended to 23 at the main change. The Dolphins rallied, however, failed to make in-roads due to their poor accuracy in front of goal and consequently succumbed to the home side by 20 points.

The defeat saw the Dolphins fall to fourth spot, following Blackfriars Old Scholars defeat of Lockleys.

Blackfriars Old Scholars, following its victory, leapfrogged Lockleys and moved to second position on the ladder following its hardfought, nail-bitting five-point win against the Demons at St. Dominics Oval.

The Hounds led by 15 points at the main break, however, Lockleys, fought back and turned the contest into a shoot-out after half time.

After numerous lead changes throughout the second half, the Hounds’ defence stood strong to record a thrilling 15.15 (105) to 15.10 (100) triumph.

Antonio Scaffidi-Muta proved the difference, snaring five goals.

In the rounds remaining fixtures, Pooraka maintained its one game advantage over Hope Valley in fifth spot after accounting for ninth-placed Kenilworth by 31 points.

Dale Armstrong, Josh Pelentsov, Ben Russel and Frank Timpano all impressing for the Bulls, whilst knocking on the door of the top five, Hope Valley kicked 15 of the last 19 goals after quarter time in their clash against bottom-placed Greenacres.

The victory was the Demons third consecutive victory.

At Ledger Reserve an eight-goal haul from the classy Timmy Sumner was enough for Woodville South to breeze past an inaccurate Rosewater to record a 16.11 (107) to 11.16 (82) victory.
