Adelaide Footy League: BankSA Division 3 Round 9 preview

THE third v second showdown at Flinders Park should provide an intriguing contest when they meet on Saturday.

FLINDERS Park and Seaton Ramblers should provide an intriguing contest when they meet at Flinders Park on Saturday.

The third versus second showdown will be vital for both sides in their quest to push for a top-three berth at the end of the minor round.

Last week the Reds had a rare downer when they were beaten by Golden Grove by 36 points at Harpers Field.

Joseph Bottin, Jordan Carrocci and Tom Alder played well in the Reds line up which lost its second game for the season.

Seaton Ramblers was forced to work hard for its win against Mitcham by 34 points.

The sides were evenly matched after quarter time with Todd Gates, Brenton Lowrey and Peter Miller leading the charge. Flinders Park can win at home by 12 to 28 points.

Plympton hosts Golden Grove in another tantalising clash at Plympton.

The Bulldogs continued their good form to beat Walkerville by 38 points with Kieran Nelson, Adrian Tran and Tim Dunkley among the stars.

Golden Grove’s improved recent form continued when it proved too strong for Flinders Park at

home last Saturday.

Sam Scudds played a fine game again for the Kookaburras, while Dashiell Ravlich and Jake Pitman were handy.

A tough match to line up but Plympton can just sneak home by 8 to 20 points.

Portland and Walkerville will be desperate for a win to keep their seasons alive, for either finals or avoiding relegation. Portland was no match for Brighton last week with Joshua Moody, Bradley Traegar and Corey Evans the best in the side’s 99-point loss.

Walkerville lost to Plympton by 48 points in its home game.

The Cats were let down by their second quarter but the second half was even with 8.1 to 8.5. Thomas Schlicker, Sean Kuerschner and Ryan Madden played well for the Cats.

Mitcham hosts SMOSH West Lakes with both sides aiming for their first win after eight rounds. Adam Vonow, William Ballard and Charles Schultz stood tall for the Hawks in their 34-point loss to Seaton Ramblers, while Cohen Mattner (four goals), Nicholas Madden and Matthew Gates were consistent for the Lions.

Cases can be argued for both sides but the Hawks can salute by 14 to 28 points.

Westminster Old Scholars and Brighton should produce a tight battle when they meet at the Dragons’ home ground. Matthew Newman, Thomas Drew and Joel Steer were among the prime movers for the Dragons with Jared Shattock strong in attack with four goals.
