PLYMPTON chalked up its first win of the season with a crushing 76-point win against SMOSH West Lakes in their Bank SA division three Adelaide Footy League clash last Saturday.

The Bulldogs dominated their home game to win 17.10 (112) to 5.6 (36), with Lonnie Hampton, Jack Donkersley (four goals) and Stuart Taverner among their best.

The Lions struggled for consistency with Peadar Brady, Alex Hughes and Stefan Thomas among the best.

Flinders Park set up a big lead in the first half and held that advantage to beat Mitcham away, 18.17 (125) to 11.14 (89).

Reds coach Dave Kennewell said he was impressed with his side’s ability to finish off plays.

“That was a very good win,’’ he said. “This year we have some dynamic forwards and height. I think we are in a very good place.’’

Best for the Reds were Chad Comitogianni (30 possessions), Tyson Horsnell (five goals) and Tom Alder. Key forward Andrew Ainger did not play. Simon Tucker, Dennis McEvoy and Simon Duykers were among Mitcham’s best.

Seaton Ramblers had their kicking boots on when they beat Portland at Port Reserve, 22.8 (140) to 14.14 (98). Seaton coach Matt Webber said his side had produced a polished display.

“We jumped out of the blocks in the first quarter and kicked seven goals,’’ he said. “We played some good footy around the ball. In my three years at the club it is the best brand of footy I have seen. I was rapt.’’

Todd Gates, Callan Annett and Luke Rochester played well for the Rams, while young gun Rocco Rugari kicked seven goals. Portland’s best players were Robert Wilson, Brett Prior and Aaron Christmann.

Walkerville produced a solid game to beat Westminster Old Scholars at home, 9.11 (65) to 4.14 (38). The Cats, down to Brighton by 31 points in the opening round, saw good games from Thomas Schlicker, Ryan Maddern and Sean Kuerschner.

Luke Westbury kicked four goals.

The Dragons battled with Ben Fisher, Harrison Lienert and Russell McInerney among their best.

Brighton ran over the top of Golden Grove in the second half in their battle at Brighton Oval. The Bombers led 8.10 to 5.3 at half time and 14.11 to 6.8 at the last change.

One goal from the Bombers’ Scott Hunt was a piece of magic as he beat three players to snap a goal in the third quarter.

The Kookaburras kicked the first goal of the last quarter but Brighton careered away to win 23.15 (153) to 7.10 (52).

Jack Chalmers, Justin Evans and Ben Tate (two goals) were among the best for Brighton, while Brett Irons kicked five goals.

The Kookaburras saw solid games from Daniel Lepka, Judd Morris and Duane Schultz. Kane Blades kicked four goals.

All sides break for Easter this weekend.
