BRIGHTON makes its debut in the division three finals when it hosts Seaton Ramblers on Saturday.
The Bombers enjoyed an excellent minor round with two losses – both away to Plympton and
Portland but was very impressive in home games.
Seaton Ramblers booked its second semi berth with a spirited win against Golden Grove in a
qualifying final at home, 9.13 (67) to 8.11 (59).
The Rams enjoyed strong efforts from several players including Anthony Laudato, Shane Harris (two goals) and Luke Rochester.
When the sides met during the season the Bombers won by 28 points away in round three and
then proved too strong in round 12 at home to take the game by 50 points with 36 scoring
shots to 11.
Finals have produced tight, tough games with minor-round form often thrown out the door.
But it is hard to ignore the Bombers’ depth and they should get home by 14-32 points.
Golden Grove will host Plympton in a first semi-final at Harpers Field.
The Kookaburras lost few fans after their eight-point loss to the Rams last week with Jake Pitman, Daniel Lepka and Shane Walker among the key movers.
Plympton showed plenty of grit to hold out Finders Park in their elimination final at Finders Park.
In heavy going the Bulldogs won 8.9 (57) to 6.16 (52) after trailing 4.9 to 5.2 at half-time and leading 7.5 to 5.15 at the last change with Jesse Colley, Danijel Herbut and Brodie McLeod showing the way for Plympton.
When the sides met during the season the Kookaburras won away by 23 points in round nine,
kicking 15.3 to 9.16.
In the final minor round Golden Grove again took the points by seven points at home.
A strong case for both sides but the home ground should tip this to the
Kookaburras in a tight contest by 10-22 points.
Flinders Park’s best in its losing final against Plympton included Thomas Dunn, Michael Demant and Mitchell Harvey.
