AFTER 18 rounds of the Balfour’s division six competition it’s time for the major round with two mouth-watering match ups that feature teams that will harbour ambitions of the ultimate glory.
In the elimination final Ingle Farm will host Trinity in a repeat of the 2016 fixture, which TOS won.
In round 18, Ingle Farm had an easy victory over winless Houghton by 10 goals with Richard Mount starring.
Trinity faced top placed Pulteney in the final round of the year and fell by 21 points.
Sam Peters was the standout.
These two teams met twice this year with Trinity winning close encounters on both occasions by 12 and three points respectively.
That makes three in-a-row for the Tossers over the Bulldogs by a total of 16 points or an average of less than a goal.
Paul Manuel will be desperate to turn the tables at home in this sudden death playoff.
The qualifying final is a repeat of the round 18 game with Elizabeth hosting Brahma Lodge.
The round 18 game saw the Eagles too good at home to the tune of 78 points.
The standout for the Eagles was Jarrod Upton whilst they had an impressive 13 goal kickers.
For the Tigers Ryan Richter was named best.
These two teams also locked horns in round nine with Brahma Lodge convincing 50-point winners at home.
With the points split in two previous encounters and so many stars on both lists this game is very hard to tip.
Like most games the key will be the midfield.
The Eagles midfield will need to curtail the Tigers influence or the high-scoring forwards of Brahma in the likes of Darrell McIntyre and Dean Steele, who have kicked 121 between them.
Conversely for Elizabeth Darryl Cotter, Jacob Shephard and Shaun Woodland has been a dynamic trio kicking a total of 120 between it.
In the other games in round 18, West Croydon were too good for Fitzroy by 55 points.
Salisbury West also closed its year with a good away win over Mawson Lakes by 51 points.
Pulteney’s aforementioned win has afforded them the week off in top spot.
