Adelaide Footy League: Balfours Div 6 Round 9 review

At the half way point of the season it looks like Pulteney will have any one of five serious contenders trying to derail their Balfours Div 6 premiership assault.

At the halfway point of the season, it looks like Pulteney will have any one of five serious contenders trying to derail their Balfours Division 6 premiership assault.

Brahma Lodge flexed their muscles with a 50-point win over Elizabeth at home on the weekend. Stephen Forbes was BOG in his first game and is a welcome addition while Steven Burns with five goals and Jack Cook also proved too much for the Eagles to handle.

The mid-season break has come at the right time for Elizabeth after three consecutive losses. Austin Reeves has played every game this year and was their stand out while Anthony Rossack was very good in his first game.

Fitzroy made it six on the trot courtesy of an eight-goal win over West Croydon. A name that seems to draw plenty of attention is Anton Gerardis who snagged seven sausage rolls on the weekend while better players in an ever improving list included Ryan “Mick” Foley and Corey Widdison.

It’s been a real case of chocolates to boiled lollies for the Hawks who started the year like a house on fire. They will be desperate to turn around this form slump after the break. Their better players on the weekend included Ryan Palmer and Tristan Harding.

Ingle Farms 113-point demolition job of Houghton came off the back of a breathtaking eight-goal performance from Luke Mccormick-Smith and smooth moving left footer Sam Naylor.

With former skipper Dan Bryant returning after the break from a hamstring and the Dogs able to finally curtail their injury list they might be the team to watch in the second half of the year.

Houghton is doing it tough but Hayden Morris again shone on a tough day. Dave Keetch also had a good day up forward kicking six and latching onto a torpedo that must have gone all of 30-metres.

Salisbury West had a big scare getting up over Mawson Lakes by the narrowest of margins.

Alec Maidment, Andrew Mcconnell and Jake Williams all had days to remember. That makes it back to back wins for the Tiges and will likely see them in Division 6 next year unless something goes drastically wrong.

Mawson were so close to notching their first win in two months on the back of their usual suspects with Elliott Duncan having his best game for the year.

Trinity became Pulteneys next victim to the tune of 12 goals despite the best efforts of Jordan Smith. For Pulteney Shane Cooke was the dominant contributor.
