Adelaide Footy League: Aldi Division 4 Round 8 preview

EASTERN Park will look to bounce back from its shock loss to Salisbury when it visits Morphettville Park in ALDI division four action on Saturday.

EASTERN Park will look to bounce back from its shock loss to Salisbury when it visits Morphettville Park in ALDI division four action on Saturday.

The Demons’ five-game winning streak came to an end last weekend following a 31-point loss at lowly Salisbury.

Eastern was blown away after quarter-time and struggled to get its trademark free-flowing, high-

scoring, game up and running.

The Magpies booted eight goals to three after the first break to inflict the Demons’ first defeat since the opening round of the season.

Despite the loss Eastern remains in the top three, a spot below Morphettville Park.

The Roos have not lost since falling to ladder-leaders North Haven in the opening round.

Morphies came away from Smithfield with a well-deserved 38-point victory last weekend.

Edward Doak continued his solid goalkicking form with four majors and Anthony Reidy was a standout.

The Roos can keep pressure on North Haven and open up a two-win buffer over the Demons with a victory at Kellett Reserve.

North Haven enters its home clash with last-placed Smithfield a clear favourite.

The Magpies improved to 7-0 following an emphatic 64-point thumping of Colonel Light Gardens last weekend.

Tom Lipson bagged nine goals for North, while Sam Tylor was dominant.

The Magpies’ big win pushed Colonel Light Gardens from the top five.

Losers in their past four, the Lions will look to recover away to Kilburn.

Kilburn is fourth despite falling to Gepps Cross by 43 points on the weekend.

The Chics finished poorly after entering the final term down by less than a goal.

Dylan Tippett and Stuart Foster impressed while Mark McCallum snagged four majors.

In other games, Gepps Cross will look to consolidate its spot in the top five.

The Rams’ win over the Chics lifted them to fifth ahead of a road trip to Edwardstown.

Robert Kovacic’s six majors proved decisive in the win.

The Towns have record two wins and five losses to start the season but been close on a number of occasions.

Last weekend they fell to Hectorville by four points.

Edwardstown desperately needs a win at home to avoid falling further back from the top five nearing the halfway mark of the season.

Elsewhere, ninth-placed Hectorville hosts eighth-ranked Salisbury in a possible relegation-deciding battle.
