IF the opening two rounds of the ALDI Division 4 season are any guide North Haven looks set to be contending at the business end of the Adelaide Footy League season once again.

A Tom Lipson-led Magpies brushed by Salisbury at Salisbury Oval in Round 2 to sit alongside Colonel Light Gardens as the only undefeated sides in the division entering this weekend’s bye.

Lipson booted eight goals — following a four-goal effort in the opening round against Morphettville Park — in a best-on-ground performance.

Kyran Dixon added five goals as the visitors proved too slick in a battle of the Magpies.

After successive preliminary final defeats, North Haven looks to have the experience required to go a step further this season.

Colonel Light Gardens has also started the season positively, improving to 2-0 after shrugging off Gepps Cross by 28 points.

The Lions missed the finals last season after earning promotion to Division 4.

Emmett Wood and recruit Jackson Hooper have impressed early in the season, while Alistair Fleming has booted nine goals in attack.

Newcomer Morphettville Park showed it will be a force.

The Roos crushed Kilburn by 96 points to earn their first Adelaide Footy League win since crossing from the Southern Football League ahead of the season.

Morphettville Park could have won by more if not for some wayward kicking, finishing with 18.20 to the Chics’ 5.2.

The Roos face former Southern Football League adversary Edwardstown after the break.

The Towns were crushed by Eastern Park in Round 2.

The opening fortnight of the season has also established Hectorville as the division’s heart attack team.

The Hounds have tested the heart rate of coach Darren Francis and their fans after playing out two thrillers.

After losing by less than a kick to Colonel Light Gardens in Round 1, Hectorville edged Smithfield by two points on the weekend.

A six-goal haul by Brad Russell was the highlight.

The Hounds will be hoping for some more comfortable wins after the Easter break.

Smithfield and Salisbury will just be looking for any kind of win.

The two sides have started 0-2 and face challenging road games after the bye.

The Panthers face Gepps Cross and Salisbury travel to Mortlock Park to take on Colonel Light Gardens.
