MORPHETTVILLE Park will be aiming for its first win since crossing to the Adelaide Football League when it hosts Kilburn in Division 4 this weekend.
The Roos went down to North Haven by 23 points in their season-opener on the weekend. But the newcomers could take plenty of positives from the outing against a side that has fallen one win short of a grand final for the past two seasons and again looks likely to be in the premiership mix.
Sam Barnett (two goals) was a standout for Morphettville Park and Edward Doak provided a target in attack, booting three majors.
The Roos will be hoping to make the most of home ground advantage against Kilburn at Kellett Reserve.
The Chics started 2017 with an impressive 35-point home victory over Eastern Park.
Kilburn’s attacking options proved too hard for the Demons to stop.
Eastern Park will be looking to get its season back on track when it faces Round 1 winner Edwardstown at ALDI Arena.
The Towns will have to stop Ian Williamson – who kicked five goals in the opening round – if they are to improve to 2-0.
Edwardstown was solid from start to finish against Smithfield last week in a contest that could have proven to be dangerous.
Jake Cairns (five goals) and Toby Case started the season in fine form.
Colonel Light Gardens will be aiming to maintain its perfect record when it faces Gepps Cross at Mortlock Park.
The Lions scored a thrilling come-from- behind victory over Hectorville in the opening round, prevailing by a point after overturning a five-goal deficit at the main break.
Gepps Cross – demoted after finishing ninth in Division 3 last season – opened its account with a 25-point win over Salisbury.
The Rams were also fast finishers, slotting five goals to one in the final term to take the game away from the Magpies.
Salisbury hosts North Haven in the second round and will be looking to produce a more consistent four-quarter effort. The Magpies trailed at each break but had closed to within a point entering the last term before failing to go on with the job.
Jamie Wormald produced a top performance.
Smithfield and Hectorville clash at Smithfield Oval both looking to open their 2017 accounts. The Panthers need to address last weekend’s slow start while the Hounds will be looking to atone for a disappointing loss in the opening round.
