Adelaide Crows end SANFL losing streak, defeat West Adelaide by 65 points
The Crows have snapped a three-game SANFL losing streak after powering past West Adelaide by 65 points at Richmond Oval.
Adelaide has snapped its three-game SANFL losing streak to heap more hurt on West Adelaide at Richmond Oval on Sunday.
Despite being out-tackled by the Bloods, 78 to 47, the superiority of the Crows was evident in the tough conditions — as they kicked the game’s last nine goals to record what ended up being a comfortable 15.15 (105) to 5.10 (40).
With Patrick Wilson (26 disposals, six marks, six clearances), Hugh Greenwood (19 touches, 10 tackles, eight clearances), Josh Jenkins (14 disposals, eight marks, 16 hit-outs), Tyson Stengle (two goals) all playing AFL footy in recent weeks and Myles Poholke influential all over the ground, Jordon Butts a rock in defence and Kieran Strachan impressive in the ruck the Crows just had too much class for a West Adelaide side that faded badly in the second half.

Defensive development coach Brent Reilly was pleased with the Crows’ second half effort, but said their tackling needed to be improved.
“We were probably a little bit scratchy in the first half but in the second we came out and played some decent footy, our Crows way of footy,” he said.
“We had came off the bye, we spoke about it in the box maybe it was just having that week off and coming out and not playing the way that we wanted to play but the boys fought it out and we played some decent footy in the second half.
“They are a contested team and so are we so it will always be won around the source, and I thought we did well with the contested possession but they out-tackled us.
“So I think our ability to get at them and lay those tackles is something that we need to work on.”
There’s a lot more that needs to be addressed for the Bloods, who have now lost three on the bounce.
West Adelaide coach Gavin Colville said the short-term outlook did not look too rosy for the Bloods, but he was confident they could come out the other side.
“Unfortunately it (the game) followed a familiar pattern this year,” he said.
“I think what we are seeing is a group that is trying and matching the opposition for effort for three quarters but on fatigue when our effort drops there is a level of skill and composure that we just don’t have at the moment.
“I can’t fault the guys for their effort but when the game became one around fitness and fatigue we were just outdone.”
