Jack Ginnivan footage causes stir as ‘ugly’ act exposed

Jack Ginnivan has been called out after cameras captured him performing an outlawed act in his team’s win over West Coast.

Jack Ginnivan gets away with kicking act against Eagles

Jack Ginnivan has got away with an ugly act of twice kicking West Coast’s Jack Graham during the Hawks’ big win over the Eagles in Perth on Sunday.

The livewire forward has captured plenty of attention on social media with footage of his first quarter incident with Graham spreading across cyberspace.

The former Collingwood star was seen lashing out at Graham after he had been brought to ground when playing for a free kick that was dismissed by the umpires.

The 22-year-old clearly didn’t like how Graham got back to his feet while standing over his opponent and kicked out at the former Richmond premiership player.

The first kick went between Graham’s legs towards his groin.

With Graham off balance after the kick, Ginnivan lashed out again kicking towards Graham’s shins.

Another West Coast player came in to give Ginnivan a verbal serve after the Hawks player’s attempts to play for a free kick went unrewarded.

One video clip of the incident shared on X has more than 45,000 views with many commentators slamming Ginnivan for the act that unfolded right in front of umpires.

While the whistle-blowers waved it off, it is possible the AFL Match Review will cite Ginnivan for foul play.

Ginnivan went on to kick two goals as Hawthorn romped to a 50-point win.

He was also not shy in performing his goal celebrations in front of angry fans at Optus Stadium.

Ginnivan was back in the side after he had been overlooked at the selection panel before the team’s Easter Monday blockbuster against Geelong.

Ginnivan has been hot and cold in 2025 after coming off a disrupted pre-season where he struggled with an ankle injury.

The Hawks, meanwhile, snapped a two-match losing streak with the big win over in the West.

The Eagles had no answer after being blown away in the second quarter and a tactical move to move captain Oscar Allen into a defender did not pay off.

Allen had taken a brief spell away from football after his meeting with Hawks coach Sam Mitchell was exposed, leading to calls for him to stand down as captain.

But instead of his traditional forward line role, Allen was thrown into defence on Sunday – and was well beaten by opponent Mabior Chol.
