GINO Capogreco is still the president of the South Australian Amateur Football League after a motion to have him ousted was defeated at an extraordinary meeting of league clubs last night.
SAAFL club delegates are understood to have voted 42-19 against removing Mr Capogreco from his position at Thebarton Oval.
Mr Capogreco had been accused of inappropriately handling a document relating to SAAFL chief executive Grant Goodall's key performance inductors, in August.
He was also accused of physically threatening board member Peter Cater, and chesting league chairman Trevor Holst, at a September board meeting.
Mr Capogreco had denied all allegations. He told The Advertiser the club's decision to restore him as president effectively cleared him of any wrong doing.
"The clubs have acted as an independent adjudicator,'' he said.
"They have looked at all sides of the evidence, and the majority of the clubs have declared there was no case to answer …
"The allegations in their eyes were not substantiated whatsoever. It certainly has cleared my name."
Mr Goodall confirmed a motion to have the SAAFL presidency declared vacant was defeated. He would not confirm to exact tally of votes.
