Four candidates in race for two SA Football Commission spots

FOUR candidates are seeking election to two seats on the SA Football Commission this evening.

FOUR candidates are seeking election to two seats on the SA Football Commission this evening.

They are current commissioner David Shipway, Magarey Medallist Peter Woite, former Glenelg president Gary Metcalf and chartered accountant Simon Rodger.

The SANFL league directors will vote for the new commissioners at AAMI Stadium this evening.

Metcalf has nominated for the first time. Woite is making his second attempt to earn a seat on SA football's highest administrative forum.

Rodger is the surprise candidate considering he has no direct link to an SANFL club. He has a long link to amateur football club Adelaide Lutheran and has served the SANFL as a consultant.

He manages his own company, Rodger Consulting, and is chief executive of investment management firm Johnston Grocke.

The two seats on the commission are vacant by Shipway's term coming to an end and last year's resignation of former deputy chairman Jamie Coppins.
