FORMER Central District president Les Stevens has died after a battle with cancer.
Stevens, 68, who was Bulldogs president from 1999-2005 and again from 2011-12 before resigning because of ill health, passed away on Wednesday night.
"Les was a very, very generous supporter of this club, not just financially but in his role as administrator,'' Bulldogs chief executive Kris Grant said.
"He was a great bloke and this is a very sad day for the club.
"Les played an important role in the successful period of our club's history.
"During his reign as president we won five premierships, including our first in 2000.
"He was also president when we borrowed $2.2 million to expand the licence club facility and when the lights were installed for night football.''
Stevens is the third former Bulldogs president to pass away this year following Robert Zerella and Norm Russell.
