Top 20: There’s been 14 SuperCoach double-tons this decade with Lance Franklin’s 236 points in 2012 the highest

It was a big week in SuperCoach but there’s been bigger, with 14 players recording SuperCoach double tons this decade. The Phantom looks at who scored them and how they did it.

It was a big weekend in SuperCoach with star midfielders Adam Treloar (177), Marcus Bontempelli (166) and Jack Macrae (155) all posting season-high scores.

But it’s still Stephen Coniglio’s 207-point performance in Round 11, closely followed by Josh Dunkley’s 202 against the Demons, which leads all-comers in 2019.

Early this year, Coniglio and Dunkley joined an illustrious club with only 12 other players recording a SuperCoach double ton this decade.

Sitting atop this list is superstar Lance Franklin, who tallied a huge 236 points in Round 10, 2012.

On that day in Launceston, playing for Hawthorn, Franklin finished with 23 disposals, 13 goals and four contested marks in the 115-point drubbing of North Melbourne.

Patrick Dangerfield’s 229-point performance, also against the Kangaroos in 2016, on the back of 48 disposals, 23 contested possessions, 13 clearances, 11 inside-50s and two goals, is the second-best score in the past 10 seasons.

Arguably the best SuperCoach scorer of all-time, Gary Ablett, features in the top-20 three times, with his 45-disposal, 27-contested possession performance, which resulted in 210 points, for the Suns in 2017 coming in at No. 10.

In 2010, Ablett scored 202 points in the year before he left the Cats and another 204 points in his sixth game as a Sun.

But the little master isn’t the only name to feature multiple times.

Former West Coast big man Dean Cox has scores of 215 and 212 to his name, as does Richmond’s J ack Riewoldt, whose 219-point performance against Gold Coast last year is the fifth-highest score this decade.

His first double-ton came in Round 12, 2010 and, remarkably, given it’s only happened 14 times this decade, former North Melbourne forward Lindsay Thomas scored 218 points on the same weekend.

While the SuperCoach scoring system, also known as Champion Data ranking points, has changed over time, former Brisbane premiership captain — and SuperCoach Ambassador — Jonathan Brown holds the all-time record.

In 2006, the first year of SuperCoach, the star centre-half-forward tallied huge 281 points in Round 7 against the Hawks.

On that night at Carrara Stadium — now home of the Gold Coast Suns — Brown finished with 25 disposals, 16 marks — four of them contested — eight goals, seven one-percenters and one goal-assist.

Rightfully so, Brown received three Brownlow votes for one of the best individual performances the game has ever seen.

Matthew Richardson’s 263 points 14 rounds later, on the back of 24 disposals, 12 contested marks, nine goals and five inside-50s, is the second-best score on record.
