Power co-captain Tom Jonas and Crows midfielder Hugh Greenwood have described the horrible sinking feeling that sets in when a substandard effort is highlighted in a team meeting as Greenwood reveals he was called out after the loss to Brisbane.

Speaking on The Lowdown Podcast on Tuesday after Crows co-captain Taylor Walker’s groundball effort against Shannon Hurn had been under the microscope for 24 hours, Greenwood and Jonas said they’d been there before.

“It’s one of those things as soon as we lose Tex is the one that cops it. It’s tough on the big fella but he seemed in alright spirits (on Monday),” Greenwood said.

“He’s probably disappointed with that one incident and Campo (Scott Camporeale) obviously came out and said he wished he had his time again.

“From what I heard he addressed it in the leaders’ meeting, and he kicked 3.3 last week and gave a handball off to Eddie (Betts) in the square with a couple of seconds to go so he’s coming off 4.3 in Brisbane which wasn’t very clean footy.

“Last week a lot of us were off the mark, this week a few of us, so that’s footy, that’s life.

“I got one against Brisbane (last week) where I went one-handed (at a contest) and didn’t put my head over it and that was shown up in the team meeting.

“You know it’s coming, you remember the instance in a game and you don’t necessarily have to explain yourself, most of the time it’s an anomaly.

“It’s a shocking feeling. You see the clip coming, you’ve already seen it in your individual clips and you shrink back in your chair and think ‘why are you showing that?’ because 99 times out of 100 I wouldn’t do that, but that’s what they say ‘we’re not quite sure what you were doing here?’

“It’s a lonely place when an RFI clip pops up.

“We try to keep it positive, we try to show five positive clips to every RFI — we don’t say negative — we say room for improvement.”

Jonas said he was no stranger to RFI’s and revealed Ken Hinkley told him he’d never looked so unfit as he did on the weekend.

“I’ve got plenty of those in my time. I’ve played plenty of bad games and have plenty more in the future,” he said.

“You just feel embarrassed and ashamed, you feel like you’ve let everyone down, it’s a horrible place and that’s a good reason not to let it happen again you don’t let your pride get in the way of becoming a better footballer and teammate.

“The calf (on Saturday) was fine. (Was I) match fit? No.

“I was on the treadmill at times, Kenny reckons he’s never seen me look that bad running off the ground 20 minutes into the first quarter.

“I was out on my legs. I think I’ve run twice in the last five weeks so I’ll be better for the run. It's no excuse, I didn’t play my best game but I’ll be better for it.”

Greenwood said the Crows had reviewed Saturday’s 12-point loss to West Coast to work out how they threw away a 33-point lead.

“The last two weeks we’ve been right around the mark but haven’t been able to do it for four quarters, we’ve shown glimpses but it’s our ability to not have any lapses and the third quarter was clearly a big lapse,” he said.

“We thought West Coast gave us their best hit and we came in at three-quarter-time confident that we’d wrestled momentum back.

“We had an emphasis on wanting to avoid their intercept markers but still put ourselves in not great spots in terms of shallow entries.

“The second quarter was the best footy we’ve played all year so we highlighted that, but we can’t afford to shy away from it in the second half when things don’t go our way.”
