Geelong VFL and Anakie ruckman Ajang Kuol mun has been invited to test at the state draft combine along with several other prospects from the region.
Kuol mun, who was born in a Kenyan refugee camp and crossed from soccer to local footy last year, was interviewed by several clubs ahead of the mid-season draft but was left on the board.
The athletic 206 centimetre tall hasn’t featured at VFL level since round nine due to a ruck squeeze at the Cats but has been dominating in the Geelong & District Football League for Anakie, where he is averaging 52 hit-outs, 20 disposals and a goal.
Newtown & Chillwell product River Stevens, the son of dual North Melbourne premiership player Anthony, has also been invited to test at the state screening along with Bell Park ball magnet Xavier Ivisic and Lara key forward Daniel Lowther.
Stevens has had an encouraging season in the Talent League and the APS school footy competition, culminating in two goals and 12 touches against South Australia.
Ivisic impressed at the national championships where he averaged 22 disposals and 104 SuperCoach points and has been prolific for the Falcons and Geelong Grammar.
Lowther, a 198 centimetre tall, has kicked 14 goals across 10 games for the Falcons and slotted three majors in a GFNL senior game against North Shore in round one this year.
St Mary’s defender Lachie Jaques was the only prospect from the region to receive a national combine invite.
