Versatile tall Nate Caddy is continuing to firm as a top AFL draft prospect at the end of the year after another impressive performance in the Coates Talent League on the weekend.

A 193cm marking forward, Caddy started at the opening centre bounce for the Northern Knights in their match against the Oakleigh Chargers on Saturday and played a part in the first clearance of the game.

He was strong in the contest throughout and racked up 21 disposals, 15 contested possessions, six marks and two clearances for the day.

Caddy also spent some time forward and hit the scoreboard with 4.2 among eight score involvements.

The eye-catching return to the Knights came after Caddy had impressed recruiters in a VFL debut for Carlton the previous week.

In that match against Williamstown, the 17-year-old played forward and finished with eight disposals, two marks and two goals.

“He’s getting better and better each week and handled the step up to the level very well,” one recruiter said after that match.

The nephew of two-time Richmond premiership player Josh, Caddy missed the first week of the season with a broken fibula but has built into the season nicely since then.

He recorded 14 disposals, four marks and kicked a goal for the AFL Academy side in its exhibition match against Carlton’s VFL team earlier this month.

Tasmania Devils defender Arie Schoenmaker also had a bumper game on the weekend, scoring 234 SuperCoach points against the Greater Western Victoria Rebels in his first Coates Talent League match of the season.

Schoenmaker’s day included 36 disposals, 19 rebound 50s, 9 intercept possessions, 6 marks and 5 spoils.

GWV Rebels pair Joel Freijah and George Stevens were also standouts in that match.

Freijah logged 29 disposals, 10 score involvements and eight clearances through the midfield, while Stevens had 27 disposals, nine clearances and six inside-50s also playing onball.
