While the Power will hold a public memorial service in honour of McCarthy at Alberton Oval at 10.30am on Thursday, every player on its list, the entire coaching staff and key officials will honour him at his Mornington Peninsula home town.
Most of the travelling contingent, including chief executive Keith Thomas, president Brett Duncanson and football manager Peter Rohde will fly out of Adelaide late on Wednesday or early on Thursday.
McCarthy's funeral will be held at 11am and is expected to be followed by a footballers' guard-of-honour down the main street of Sorrento.
The Power players are expected to line up alongside Collingwood and Sorrento players as they farewell a favourite son, who tragically died in a fall from a Las Vegas Casino last Monday while holidaying with Port teammates.
The Premier Jay Weatherill will be among SA football public who will honour McCarthy at Alberton Oval.
Port chaplain Brandon Chaplin will lead the local memorial service, conducted in front of the Robert B. Quinn Grandstand.
Chaplin and a senior club official will pay tribute to McCarthy, 22, while highlights of his 39-game career will be on a big screen.
A live video feed of the Sorrento funeral will be shown from 11am.
