Could AFLW Players’ MVP Erin Phillips play against men in the AFL?
THE inaugural AFLW Players’ Most Valuable Player Erin Phillips could make the leap to the AFL and play against men, Lauren Wood says. LISTEN TO THE SUPERFOOTY PODCAST
SHE is the most dominant player in the AFLW competition.
And her stunning performances, which netted her the AFLW Players’ Most Valuable Player Award, have some pundits wondering if Adelaide Crows superstar Erin Phillips could play against the men in the AFL.
Herald Sun football writer Lauren Wood has no doubt.
“Is it just me, or could Erin Phillips get a game in a men’s side?” Lauren asked on the SuperFooty Podcast today.
“She is unbelievable
“And has managed to turn on this season off, I think she had about a four day preseason.
“She ripped her quad in the second week and came back to training the week of the first game.
“I reckon she could (play in the AFL).
“She was absolutely incredible on the weekend (in the AFLW grand final).
“Her ability to create from nothing is just amazing.
“Wait for next year!”
Mick read out a text message from a Carlton supporter, who might have been employing just a touch of irony.
“It was a tough start for Carlton, but there were many positives...
“Eddie Betts was on fire, Zach Touhy was almost best on ground, Jeff Garlett kicked three, Mitch Robinson smashed rivals, Lachy Henderson was a pillar in defence, Sam Jacobs dominated in the ruck and Josh Kennedy kicked seven.
“So lots of upside. Only Waite’s kicking let us down.”
Poor Blues supporters. Better times are ahead.
In a Round 1 to remember, Huddo, Mick and Loz put together a bumper SuperFooty Podcast, touching on subjects including:
