Central United Football Club celebrates first junior to reach 200 game milestone

STEWART Brading will become the first junior to play 200 games for Central United Football Club when he takes to the field this weekend.

CENTRAL UNITED Football Club is a second home for forward Stewart Brading.

The 15-year-old has been kicking goals for the club since he was five will become its first junior player to reach 200 games this weekend.

"A few years ago I played at least two games a week, sometimes three, by playing up a grade," Stewart, of Elizabeth North, says.

"I've just always been around the club and if someone has needed me to play I've always filled in."

Stewart is not the only member of his family committed to the Bulldogs.

His dad Iain was junior chairman for ten years and still volunteers at the club, while his mum Ann is a team manager.

Stewart plays cricket for Central United in summer and says playing sport is "everything" to him.

"The reason I play is to have fun, be sociable and meet new people," Stewart says.

"I don't think life would be any fun (without it). I think I'd be bored all the time."

Stewarts' under-16 team are sitting top of the ladder this year with only one loss for the season.

He says winning is a great feeling and he is looking forward to playing finals.

"It's what you're playing for," he says.

"I haven't won a premiership. I've played in a few finals but not won one yet.

"Hopefully this year we'll get one."
