Nick Daicos hung on to top the leaderboard of the Code Sports Brownlow Predictor.

But it’s an open field with plenty of contenders looking to cause an upset.

Here’s some other key takeaways that stood out.

SHAKY FINISH

Collingwood ended the season poorly with just two wins from their last seven games.

So to win the Brownlow Medal, Nick Daicos is going to have to poll in losing sides.

In round 19 the Pies lost to the Dockers by one point and Daicos recorded a PB 43 disposals alongside eight clearances, which was enough for the three votes according to our Predictor.

In the final month of the season, the only match Daicos is predicted to poll is against the Crows.

In a lineball decision, a late goal saw the Collingwood No. 35 claim maximum votes but the umpires could easily look to the winning Adelaide team.

It could be the call that decides the count.

AWESOME DAWSON

It was a case of maximum impact for Jordan Dawson in 2025.

His disposal average of 23.65 across the home-and-away season was his lowest as a Crow.

But there’s no doubting it was a career-best year as Dawson claimed All-Australian honours and was adjudged the league’s No. 1 skipper.

Accumulators pick up plenty of votes from umpires, but matchwinners do too.

Take Dawson’s last quarter against the Lions in round 13.

He had only touched it 12 times to the last change before a few big moments in the last term rocketed him into voting calculations.

Could he become Adelaide’s second Brownlow medallist?

WILL CHARGING BAZ FALL SHORT?

A trio of missed games in 2025 could cost Bailey Smith a Brownlow Medal.

Our Predictor has him in second place on 34 votes, just three votes shy of Nick Daicos.

Smith is predicted to claim best-on-ground honours in the last three matches of the season — and poll 13 votes in the last five.

It’s a stellar finish to the campaign so don’t count out the gun Cat if he falls behind at some point during the evening.

But it could be a case of ‘what if’ for Baz.

FRIENDS TURNED ENEMIES

The other thing working against Smith on Brownlow night is how many votes Max Holmes will steal from under his nose.

Holmes is predicted to claim 25 votes, 21 of those coming after round 10 and both players are tipped to poll in the same game nine times.

It’s a similar story for medal fancy Noah Anderson, with good mate Matt Rowell surging into contention.

The pair are predicted to poll in the same game eight times, with Anderson (32 votes) predicted to finish just ahead of Rowell (28 votes).

But keep in mind Rowell polled well ahead of predictions last year — the umpires seem to take particular notice of the inside bull.

CLUB COUNTS

Don’t have a Brownlow contender from your club this year?

Never fear, take a look at some of the intriguing battles in clubland.

At Carlton Patrick Cripps is in a dogfight to lead the Blues’ count for the fourth consecutive year.

George Hewett’s career-best season netted him a predicted 14 votes, two behind his skipper on 16 (just 29 shy of last year’s tally).

Isaac Heeney leads the way at Sydney but faces stiff competition from Chad Warner and Brodie Grundy.

While at West Coast, you could throw a blanket over half-a-dozen players who could lead their count.

Just 11 total votes are tipped for the Eagles this year — 35 players beat that total individually according to the Predictor.
