All the round 16 team news from around the competition

It’s well and truly now or never for the Blues. And for a must-win game against the Power, Michael Voss has swung the axe. And so has his counterpart, Ken Hinkley.

Carlton has named Patrick Cripps to face Port Adelaide on Thursday night despite the skipper’s illness causing him to miss training.

The two-time Brownlow medallist was on the sidelines on Wednesday in Adelaide as the team completed its captain’s run.

But despite his absence, coach Michael Voss has named Cripps to line up alongside debutants Billy Wilson and Flynn Young.

The Blues have made four changes, dropping Corey Durdin, Marc Pittonet, Jaxon Binns and Matt Carroll for the clash with the Power, with Jordan Boyd and Lewis Young earning a recall.

Jacob Weitering has also been named to play, with Voss joking on Wednesday all he needed to do was “stand upright” in order to be named.

He said that Cripps missing training was precautionary.

“He was ill today, but expected to play, so he’ll be right to go,” he said on Wednesday.

“He’s not at training because he was feeling a bit off, so obviously we don’t want him around the main group.”

Port Adelaide also made four changes, all unforced, with Jackson Mead, Jeremy Finlayson, Ryan Burton and Christian Moraes all omitted.

Aliir Aliir, Logan Evans, Hugh Jackson and Travis Boak have all returned to the senior side.
