The season started in fine fashion as the Cats pipped Collingwood in the season opener as No.1 draft pick Nina Morrison starred.

Reigning premiers, the Western Bulldogs, then followed with a cliff-hanger of their own against Adelaide with the Crows their own worst enemies kicking 1.11.

Sunday didn't disappoint either as the heat arrived.

North Melbourne began their AFLW journey with a thrashing of Carlton before Melbourne and Fremantle players faced 40C heat.

The Dockers claimed their first win outside WA with a thrilling come-from-behind four-point victory as comeback kid Kiara Bowers finally made her AFLW debut.

And finally, Brisbane rounded out the weekend with a two-point win over GWS as Jess Wuetschner and Cora Staunton duelled it out with three goals each.
